Every day, 104 people are diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK. To represent this visually, we reached out to patient groups to find 104 people who would participate in the creation of an artwork.
We worked with them to create an installation of giant sculptural names.
The names were arranged around Paternoster Square in patterns that reflect the way crowds naturally form and group together.
Each name is sized to match the height of one of the patients we worked with, lending the piece a sense of their physical presence and humanizing it. The names also include their individual stories.
The stories encourage the square’s thousands of daily visitors to stop and take a moment to interact and learn more.
